Welcome to The Lamb's Wife blog!

"Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready." -Rev 19:7 KJV ... "And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife." -Rev 21:9 KJV

02/20/18 ~ Terah & Abraham

This is the second of my articles for today. This one is about my findings on the Terah / Abraham issue ...

Every single version of this verse says that Terah was 70 @ Abraham's birth:
https://www.blueletterbible.org/kjv/gen/11/26/t_bibles_11026
KJV, NKJV, NLT, NIV, ESV, CSR, RVR60, NASB, NET, RSV, ASV, YLT, DBY, WEB, HNV, VUL, WLC, LXX, as well as GNV (1599 Geneva Bible), WYC (Wycliffe Bible) ... and I'm sure there are many more ... how many witnesses do you need? Is God's word wrong???

Below is a comparison between what is in the KJV Bible (Masoretic) to The Book of Jasher. Yes I know, Jasher is *not cannon*. Even so, I spent the WHOLE DAY yesterday preparing this article, and I feel that it contains a very accurate comparison. This article goes hand-in-hand (so to speak) with the first article dated today that I just posted. You can read that one here http://thelambswife.blogspot.com/2018/02/022018-my-revised-biblical-chronology.html I think, between these two posts, they will clarify & solidify the 70 years -vs- 130 years issue as well as any other questions y'all might have regarding the life -n- times of Terah & Abram/Abraham. Please, wipe your mental slate clean and just follow the words of truth as God inspired.

Genesis 11-25, JASHER 7-26

Terah        Abraham
38              ---
        It seems Haran & Nahor, Abraham's older brothers, were twins
JASHER 7:22 (http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/7.htm)
22 And Peleg his brother begat Yen, and Yen begat Serug, and Serug begat Nahor and Nahor begat Terah, and Terah was thirty-eight years old, and he begat Haran and Nahor. {This passage (numerically) comes after the next section, but age/years-wise it belongs here since Haran & Nahor were born first, when Terah was 38.}

Terah        Abraham
70              0
       The son born here is Abraham according to Jasher, see below}
"And Terah lived seventy years, and begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran." {Genesis 11:26 KJV}
"Now these [are] the generations of Terah: Terah begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran begat Lot. And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees. And Abram and Nahor took them wives: the name of Abram's wife [was] Sarai; and the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah. But Sarai was barren; she [had] no child. And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son's son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram's wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there." {Genesis 11:27-31, from the time Terah is 70 and begets Abraham to the time he moves to Haran with his family, at which point Abraham is a man and married to Sarai/Sarah, the years are not documented in the KJV to this point. See Jasher below.}

JASHER 7:49-51 (http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/7.htm)
49 And Terah the son of Nahor, prince of Nimrod's host, was in those days very great in the sight of the king and his subjects, and the king and princes loved him, and they elevated him very high. 50 And Terah took a wife and her name was Amthelo the daughter of Cornebo; and the wife of Terah conceived and bare him a son in those days. 51 Terah was seventy years old when he begat him, and Terah called the name of his son that was born to him Abram, because the king had raised him in those days, and dignified him above all his princes that were with him. {Confirmation that Terah was 70 when Abraham was born.}

JASHER 8:1, 28-29, 30-36 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/8.htm
1 And it was in the night that Abram was born, that all the servants of Terah, and all the wise men of Nimrod, and his conjurors came and ate and drank in the house of Terah, and they rejoiced with him on that night.

JASHER 8:28-29 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/8.htm
28 And Terah saw that the anger of the king was kindled against him, and he answered the king, saying, All that I have is in the king's power; whatever the king desireth to do to his servant, that let him do, yea, even my son, he is in the king's power, without value in exchange, he and his two brothers that are older than he. 29 And the king said to Terah, No, but I will purchase thy younger son for a price. {Abram/Abraham IS this "younger son", newly born.}

JASHER 8:30-36 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/8.htm
30 And Terah answered the king, saying, I beseech thee my lord and king to let thy servant speak a word before thee, and let the king hear the word of his servant, and Terah said, Let my king give me three days' time till I consider this matter within myself, and consult with my family concerning the words of my king; and he pressed the king greatly to agree to this. 31 And the king hearkened to Terah, and he did so and he gave him three days' time, and Terah went out from the king's presence, and he came home to his family and spoke to them all the words of the king; and the people were greatly afraid. 32 And it was in the third day that the king sent to Terah, saying, Send me thy son for a price as I spoke to thee; and shouldst thou not do this, I will send and slay all thou hast in thy house, so that thou shalt not even have a dog remaining. 33 And Terah hastened, (as the thing was urgent from the king), and he took a child from one of his servants, which his handmaid had born to him that day, and Terah brought the child to the king and received value for him. 34 And the Lord was with Terah in this matter, that Nimrod might not cause Abram's death, and the king took the child from Terah and with all his might dashed his head to the ground, for he thought it had been Abram; and this was concealed from him from that day, and it was forgotten by the king, as it was the will of Providence not to suffer Abram's death. 35 And Terah took Abram his son secretly, together with his mother and nurse, and he concealed them in a cave, and he brought them their provisions monthly. 36 And the Lord was with Abram in the cave and he grew up, and Abram was in the cave ten years, and the king and his princes, soothsayers and sages, thought that the king had killed Abram.

JASHER 9:1-4 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/9.htm
1 And Haran, the son of Terah, Abram's oldest brother, took a wife in those days. 2 Haran was thirty-nine years old when he took her; and the wife of Haran conceived and bare a son, and he called his name Lot. 3 And she conceived again and bare a daughter, and she called her name Milca; and she again conceived and bare a daughter, and she called her name Sarai. 4 Haran was forty-two years old when he begat Sarai, which was in the tenth year of the life of Abram; and in those days Abram and his mother and nurse went out from the cave, as the king and his subjects had forgotten the affair of Abram. {Abraham would have been 10 years old when Sarai/Sarah was born to his eldest brother Haran. Haran would be the eldest brother and was likely born the first of twins with his brother Nahor. We know Abraham was 10 years older than Sarah because the bible states that Abraham would be 100 and Sarah 90 when at Isaac's birth, see below.}

Terah        Abraham
80-119      10-49
(Terah: 80+39=119 ... Abraham: 10+39=49)
JASHER 9:6-5 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/9.htm
5 And when Abram came out from the cave, he went to Noah and his son Shem, and he remained with them to learn the instruction of the Lord and his ways, and no man knew where Abram was, and Abram served Noah and Shem his son for a long time. 6 And Abram was in Noah's house thirty-nine years, and Abram knew the Lord from three years old, and he went in the ways of the Lord until the day of his death, as Noah and his son Shem had taught him; and all the sons of the earth in those days greatly transgressed against the Lord, and they rebelled against him and they served other gods, and they forgot the Lord who had created them in the earth; and the inhabitants of the earth made unto themselves, at that time, every man his god; gods of wood and stone which could neither speak, hear, nor deliver, and the sons of men served them and they became their gods.

JASHER 10:1 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/10.htm
1 And Peleg the son of Eber died in those days, in the forty-eighth year of the life of Abram son of Terah, and all the days of Peleg were two hundred and thirty-nine years.

JASHER 11:12 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/11.htm
12 At that time died Nahor, son of Serug, in the forty-ninth year of the life of Abram son of Terah. {Nahor here would be Abraham's uncle, not his namesake brother.}

Terah        Abraham
120            50

JASHER 11:13 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/11.htm
13 And in the fiftieth year of the life of Abram son of Terah, Abram came forth from the house of Noah, and went to his father's house.

JASHER 11:50-51 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/11.htm
50 And Terah, seeing all that Abram had done, hastened to go from his house, and he went to the king and he came before Nimrod and stood before him, and he bowed down to the king; and the king said, What dost thou want? 51 And he said, I beseech thee my lord, to hear me--Now fifty years back a child was born to me, and thus has he done to my gods and thus has he spoken; and now therefore, my lord and king, send for him that he may come before thee, and judge him according to the law, that we may be delivered from his evil. {Abraham had broken all his fathers idols. "Fifty years back" confirms Terah was 70 when Abraham was born: 120-50=70.}

JASHER 12:9-11 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/12.htm
9 And when Abram was come, the conjurors of the king and the sages saw Abram, and they cried out to the king, saying, Our sovereign lord, surely this is the man whom we know to have been the child at whose birth the great star swallowed the four stars, which we declared to the king now fifty years since. 10 And behold now his father has also transgressed thy commands, and mocked thee by bringing thee another child, which thou didst kill. 11 And when the king heard their words, he was exceedingly wroth, and he ordered Terah to be brought before him. {Nimrod had thrown Abraham in prison, then summoned all his men to decide what to do with him, at which point his men realized that Abraham was the one they wanted killed 50 years earlier when they'd seen a great star swallow up four others in the sky on the night of Abraham's birth, at that time Terah took one of his maid's (concubine's) children to Nimrod, who, thinking it was the baby Abraham, killed him (Terah's maid's child instead of Abraham) and thought all was well. Now, 50 years later, Nimrod and his men realize the intended baby, Abraham, was not killed.}

JASHER 12:12-16, 36-37, 44 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/12.htm
12 And the king said, Hast thou heard what the conjurors have spoken? Now tell me truly, how didst thou; and if thou shalt speak truth thou shalt be acquitted. 13 And seeing that the king's anger was so much kindled, Terah said to the king, My lord and king, thou hast heard the truth, and what the sages have spoken is right. And the king said, How couldst thou do this thing, to transgress my orders and to give me a child that thou didst not beget, and to take value for him? 14 And Terah answered the king, Because my tender feelings were excited for my son, at that time, and I took a son of my handmaid, and I brought him to the king. 15 And the king said Who advised thee to this? Tell me, do not hide aught from me, and then thou shalt not die. 16 And Terah was greatly terrified in the king's presence, and he said to the king, It was Haran my eldest son who advised me to this; and Haran was in those days that Abram was born, two and thirty years old. {Here we see that when Abraham was born his brother Haran was 32 years old, again confirming that Terah was 70 when Abraham was born {Terah was 38 when Haran was born, Haran was 32 when Abraham was born (38+32=70, again confirming Terah was 70 when Abraham was born.) We see here that Terah is afraid for his own life so he blames his son, Haran, for his own deceiving of Nimrod. Doing the math, Haran would now (50 years later, at this present time) be aged 82 (32+50=82); Abraham is still 50 years old; and Terah is still 120 years old. Haran and Abraham are thrown into a blazing furnace, Haran dies, Abraham does not, you can read the account for yourselves, link above.}

JASHER 12:36-37 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/12.htm
36 And Haran the brother of Abram was burned to ashes, and they sought for his body, and they found it consumed. 37 And Haran was eighty-two years old when he died in the fire of Casdim. And the king, princes, and inhabitants of the land, seeing that Abram was delivered from the fire, they came and bowed down to Abram.

JASHER 12:44 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/12.htm
44 And at that time Nahor and Abram took unto themselves wives, the daughters of their brother Haran; the wife of Nahor was Milca and the name of Abram's wife was Sarai. And Sarai, wife of Abram, was barren; she had no offspring in those days. {The Nahor spoken of here is Abraham's other brother, named after his uncle so-named above. It's not clear here when exactly within the two years Abraham married Sarah, it would be sometime between the ages of 50-52. Sarah, being 10 years younger (as seen above), would now be between 40-42.}

Terah         Abraham
122             52

JASHER 12:45, 57, 68-70 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/12.htm
45 And at the expiration of two years from Abram's going out of the fire, that is in the fifty-second year of his life, behold king Nimrod sat in Babel upon the throne, and the king fell asleep and dreamed that he was standing with his troops and hosts in a valley opposite the king's furnace. {You can click the link above to read the dream.}

JASHER 12:57 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/12.htm
57 Now therefore my king, surely thou knowest that it is now fifty-two years since thy sages saw this at the birth of Abram, and if my king will suffer Abram to live in the earth it will be to the injury of my lord and king, for all the days that Abram liveth neither thou nor thy kingdom will be established, for this was known formerly at his birth; and why will not my king slay him, that his evil may be kept from thee in latter days? {Abraham flees to Noah & Shem, Terah secretly comes to see him; for which Abraham, Noah and Shem advize Terah that they should go to the land of Canaan to keep Nimrod from killing either or both of them. You can read the rest on your own.}

JASHER 12:68-70 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/12.htm
68 Now therefore hearken to my voice, and let us arise and go to the land of Canaan, out of the reach of injury from Nimrod; and serve thou the Lord who created thee in the earth and it will be well with thee; and cast away all the vain things which thou pursuest. 69 And Abram ceased to speak, when Noah and his son Shem answered Terah, saying, True is the word which Abram hath said unto thee. 70 And Terah hearkened to the voice of his son Abram, and Terah did all that Abram said, for this was from the Lord, that the king should not cause Abram's death.

JASHER 13:1 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/13.htm
1 And Terah took his son Abram and his grandson Lot, the son of Haran, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, the wife of his son Abram, and all the souls of his household and went with them from Ur Casdim to go to the land of Canaan. And when they came as far as the land of Haran they remained there, for it was exceedingly good land for pasture, and of sufficient extent for those who accompanied them. {Abraham is still 52 years old here; Terah is still 122 years old.}

Terah        Abraham
125            55

JASHER 12:3-6 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/13.htm
3 And Abram remained in the land three years, and at the expiration of three years the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him; I am the Lord who brought thee forth from Ur Casdim, and delivered thee from the hands of all thine enemies. 4 And now therefore if thou wilt hearken to my voice and keep my commandments, my statutes and my laws, then will I cause thy enemies to fall before thee, and I will multiply thy seed like the stars of heaven, and I will send my blessing upon all the works of thy hands, and thou shalt lack nothing. 5 Arise now, take thy wife and all belonging to thee and go to the land of Canaan and remain there, and I will there be unto thee for a God, and I will bless thee. And Abram rose and took his wife and all belonging to him, and he went to the land of Canaan as the Lord had told him; and Abram was fifty years old when he went from Haran. 6 And Abram came to the land of Canaan and dwelt in the midst of the city, and he there pitched his tent amongst the children of Canaan, inhabitants of the land. {Here we have a discrepancy: it says Abraham was 50 when he left Haran for the land of Canaan, but if he was 52 above and he was in the land of Haran for 3 years before going to Canaan then reason says he would now be 55, not 50. Hopefully I'll get clarification on this as I do more research. It seems "50" is a known typo, see next part.}

Terah        Abraham
128            58

JASHER 13:9 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/13.htm
9 At that time, at the end of three years of Abram's dwelling in the land of Canaan, in that year Noah died, which was the fifty-eighth year of the life of Abram; and all the days that Noah lived were nine hundred and fifty years and he died. {This confirms that Abraham was 55 in the section above, not 50, because after yet another three years he is now shown to be 58 (55+3=58). The typo may actually be just the webpage and not the actual book, I don't have the actual book to verify from, sorry.}

JASHER 13:10 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/13.htm
10 And Abram dwelt in the land of Canaan, he, his wife, and all belonging to him, and all those that accompanied him, together with those that joined him from the people of the land; but Nahor, Abram's brother, and Terah his father, and Lot the son of Haran and all belonging to them dwelt in Haran. {This shows that Nahor (Abraham's other brother), Terah, and Lot (he joins Abraham at a later time) ALL stayed in Haran; while Abraham dwelt in the land of Canaan ... this solidifies that Abraham's father (Terah) stayed in Haran but that Abraham did not, he went to Canaan as God commanded him, long before his father died. Terah is still 128 and doesn't actually die for another 77 years at the ripe old age of 205. Abraham is still 58 at this point.}

Terah        Abraham
130            60

JASHER 13:11 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/13.htm
11 In the fifth year of Abram's dwelling in the land of Canaan the people of Sodom and Gomorrah and all the cities of the plain revolted from the power of Chedorlaomer, king of Elam; for all the kings of the cities of the plain had served Chedorlaomer for twelve years, and given him a yearly tax, but in those days in the thirteenth year, they rebelled against him. {If Abraham's in the land of Canaan for three years as stated above, and was 58 years old at that time, adding another two years (to bring the total being in Canaan to five years) as stated here means that Abraham is now 60 years old, and still living in the land of Canaan, not Haran. His father, et al, as mentioned above, is/are still in Haran, and his father Terah is now aged 130. We can still confirm that Terah was indeed 70 at Abraham's birth since even now their ages are 70 years difference.}

Terah        Abraham
135            65

JASHER 13:12 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/13.htm
12 And in the tenth year of Abram's dwelling in the land of Canaan there was war between Nimrod king of Shinar and Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Nimrod came to fight with Chedorlaomer and to subdue him. {Above, in the fifth year of Abraham being in Canaan, he is 60, add five more years to bring it up to the tenth year in Canaan (not Haran) and we now see Abraham was 65.}

Terah        Abraham
140            70

JASHER 13:17 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/13.htm
17 And it was in the fifteenth year of Abram's dwelling in the land of Canaan, which is the seventieth year of the life of Abram, and the Lord appeared to Abram in that year and he said to him, I am the Lord who brought thee out from Ur Casdim to give thee this land for an inheritance. {Adding another 5 years to Abraham's age above brings him to the age of 70 years old during his fifteenth year in the land of Canaan. Terah would now be 140.}

Terah        Abraham
???            75
        Abraham is 75 when he departs from Haran, Terah's age not mentioned.
"Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram [was] seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran. And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came." {Genesis 12:1-5 KJV}

Terah        Abraham
145            75

JASHER 13:20 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/13.htm
20 At that time Abram returned and went to Haran to see his father and mother, and his father's household, and Abram and his wife and all belonging to him returned to Haran, and Abram dwelt in Haran five years. {Adding yet another five years to Abraham's age above brings him to 75, and Terah is now 145. BUT NOTICE THIS!!! Abraham MOVES BACK TO HARAN FOR FIVE YEARS FROM THE AGE OF 70 TO 75! This clears up masses of confusion! Now we see how it is that Abraham left Haran at age 75, this is the second time he departed from Haran after living there a few years each time! See also Acts 7:4.}

JASHER 13:22-27 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/13.htm
22 In those days the Lord appeared to Abram in Haran, and he said to him, Behold, I spoke unto thee these twenty years back saying, 23 Go forth from thy land, from thy birth-place and from thy father's house, to the land which I have shown thee to give it to thee and to thy children, for there in that land will I bless thee, and make thee a great nation, and make thy name great, and in thee shall the families of the earth be blessed. 24 Now therefore arise, go forth from this place, thou, thy wife, and all belonging to thee, also every one born in thy house and all the souls thou hast made in Haran, and bring them out with thee from here, and rise to return to the land of Canaan. 25 And Abram arose and took his wife Sarai and all belonging to him and all that were born to him in his house and the souls which they had made in Haran, and they came out to go to the land of Canaan. 26 And Abram went and returned to the land of Canaan, according to the word of the Lord. And Lot the son of his brother Haran went with him, and Abram was seventy-five years old when he went forth from Haran to return to the land of Canaan. 27 And he came to the land of Canaan according to the word of the Lord to Abram, and he pitched his tent and he dwelt in the plain of Mamre, and with him was Lot his brother's son, and all belonging to him. {Abraham now moves back to Canaan after being in Haran for five years; Terah stays in Haran. Lot also now moves to Canaan -with- Abraham, whereas previously he stayed in Haran with his grandfather, Terah. Please note, this is Abraham's second time moving to Canaan after living in Haran these five years. Abraham is still 75, Terah is still 145. Also, this mentions the initial promise God gave to Abraham "twenty years" ago, so he would have been 55 when he got said promise, see above.}

JASHER 15:47  http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/15.htm
47 And Abram dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and he pitched his tent there, and Abram remained in that place many years. {Mamre (which is in Hebron) is in the land of Canaan. According to this chapter, Hagar was a daughter of Pharoah via a concubine, he gave her to Abraham as booty so to speak, you can read the whole *Egypt* story for yourselves.}

JASHER 16:11-12 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/16.htm
11 And Adonizedek king of Jerusalem, the same was Shem, went out with his men to meet Abram and his people, with bread and wine, and they remained together in the valley of Melech. 12 And Adonizedek blessed Abram, and Abram gave him a tenth from all that he had brought from the spoil of his enemies, for Adonizedek was a priest before God. {I put this here because it tells us that the one the KJV refers to as Melchizedek, or Melchisedec, here called by the title of Adonizedek, is in fact Noah's son, Shem. The title means: Melek (king) & Zedek (priest). See Genesis 14:18, and Hebrews 5-7.}

Terah        Abraham
148            78

JASHER 16:22 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/16.htm
22 And in the seventy-eighth year of the life of Abram, in that year died Reu, the son of Peleg, and all the days of Reu were two hundred and thirty-nine years, and he died.

Terah        Abraham    Sarai gives Hagar to wife for Abraham to bear her a child, Terah's age not mentioned.
???           85        "And Sarai Abram's wife took Hagar her maid the Egyptian, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife." {Genesis 16:3 KJV}

JASHER 16:26-27 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/16.htm
Terah        Abraham
155            85

27 And Sarai said to Abram, Behold here is my handmaid Hagar, go to her that she may bring forth upon my knees, that I may also obtain children through her. 27 And at the end of ten years of Abram's dwelling in the land of Canaan, which is the eighty-fifth year of Abram's life, Sarai gave Hagar unto him. {This was 10 years after Abraham moved to Canaan for the second time (he was 75 at that time, he is now 85, ten years later). The KJV doesn't give Terah's age but I have confirmed that Abraham is now 85 and I know for certain (by the Book of Jasher quotes) that Abraham was born when his father Terah was 70 years old. So, 85+70=155 for Terah at this point, who is still living in Haran. Since I feel that Terah's age when he begat Abraham is proven, I really don't need to continue in Jasher LOL but, I'm on a roll so here we go, I'll continue on through Terah's death and then Abraham's death. Terah doesn't die for another 50 years (age 205) and when he does die he's still in Haran; Abraham is in Canaan and otherwise wandering around when there's famines or God tells him to move.}

Terah        Abraham    After much travel, Abraham takes Hagar who bears him Ishmael, Terah's age not mentioned.
???            86        "And Hagar bare Abram a son: and Abram called his son's name, which Hagar bare, Ishmael. And Abram [was] fourscore and six years old, when Hagar bare Ishmael to Abram." {Genesis 16:15-16 KJV}

JASHER 16:36 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/16.htm
Terah        Abraham
156            86

36 And Hagar at that time returned to her master's house, and at the end of days Hagar bare a son to Abram, and Abram called his name Ishmael; and Abram was eighty-six years old when he begat him.

JASHER 17:1 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/17.htm
Terah        Abraham
161            91

1 And in those days, in the ninety-first year of the life of Abram, the children of Chittim made war with the children of Tubal, for when the Lord had scattered the sons of men upon the face of the earth, the children of Chittim went and embodied themselves in the plain of Canopia, and they built themselves cities there and dwelt by the river Tibreu. {The timespan from the last age of Terah (156) and Abraham (86) is five years so I added that to each here to get 161 (Terah= 156+5) and 91 (Abraham = 86+5). You can read the rest yourselves.}

Terah        Abraham    Abraham is 99 when he receives promise of a child (Isaac) by Sarah.
???            99        Abraham and Ismael (age 13) are circumcized, Terah's age not mentioned.
                "And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I [am] the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect." {Genesis 17:1} ... "And Abraham [was] ninety years old and nine, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin." {Genesis17:24}

JASHER 17:16-20 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/17.htm
Terah        Abraham
169            99

16 And Abram the son of Terah was then ninety-nine years old. 17 At that time the Lord appeared to him and he said to him, I will make my covenant between me and thee, and I will greatly multiply thy seed, and this is the covenant which I make between me and thee, that every male child be circumcised, thou and thy seed after thee. 18 At eight days old shall it be circumcised, and this covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant. 19 And now therefore thy name shall no more be called Abram but Abraham, and thy wife shall no more be called Sarai but Sarah. 20 For I will bless you both, and I will multiply your seed after you that you shall become a great nation, and kings shall come forth from you. {I am confident that Terah was 70 at Abraham's birth, as Jasher records, therefore, 99+70=169, which would be Terah's age at this point. Since Abraham was 86 when Ishmael was born, and Ishmael is now 13 years old (see next section), Abraham's age is indeed 99.}

JASHER 18:1-4 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/18.htm
1 And Abraham rose and did all that God had ordered him, and he took the men of his household and those bought with his money, and he circumcised them as the Lord had commanded him. 2 And there was not one left whom he did not circumcise, and Abraham and his son Ishmael were circumcised in the flesh of their foreskin; thirteen years old was Ishmael when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. 3 And in the third day Abraham went out of his tent and sat at the door to enjoy the heat of the sun, during the pain of his flesh. 4 And the Lord appeared to him in the plain of Mamre, and sent three of his ministering angels to visit him, and he was sitting at the door of the tent, and he lifted his eyes and saw, and lo three men were coming from a distance, and he rose up and ran to meet them, and he bowed down to them and brought them into his house.

Terah        Abraham
???           100
        Abraham made this remark the prior year. Terah's age is not mentioned.
                "Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall [a child] be born unto him that is an hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear?" {Genesis 17:17} ... and confirmed here ... "And Abraham was an hundred years old, when his son Isaac was born unto him." {Genesis 21:5 KJV}

JASHER 20:1 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/20.htm
Terah        Abraham
170           100

1 And at that time Abraham journeyed from the plain of Mamre, and he went to the land of the Philistines, and he dwelt in Gerar; it was in the twenty-fifth year of Abraham's being in the land of Canaan, and the hundredth year of the life of Abraham, that he came to Gerar in the land of the Philistines. {This is after Sodom and surrounding cities were destroyed. The ages here are easy, Terah was 70 when Abraham was born, Abraham is now 100 so Terah is now 170. JASHER 21:11 says that Ishmael was 14 when Isaac was born. "And Ishmael the son of Abraham was grown up in those days; he was fourteen years old when Sarah bare Isaac to Abraham.")

JASHER 21:1-3 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/21.htm
1 And it was at that time at the end of a year and four months of Abraham's dwelling in the land of the Philistines in Gerar, that God visited Sarah, and the Lord remembered her, and she conceived and bare a son to Abraham. 2 And Abraham called the name of the son which was born to him, which Sarah bare to him, Isaac. 3 And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac at eight days old, as God had commanded Abraham to do unto his seed after him; and Abraham was one hundred, and Sarah ninety years old, when Isaac was born to them. {This has to do with the story of Abraham being in the land of the Philistines, king Abimelech takes Sarah, the kingdom is plagued so he returns her to her husband. Isaac is born. You can also read chapter 20 for more on this story.}

JASHER 21:4-8 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/21.htm
4 And the child grew up and he was weaned, and Abraham made a great feast upon the day that Isaac was weaned. 5 And Shem and Eber and all the great people of the land, and Abimelech king of the Philistines, and his servants, and Phicol, the captain of his host, came to eat and drink and rejoice at the feast which Abraham made upon the day of his son Isaac's being weaned. 6 Also Terah, the father of Abraham, and Nahor his brother, came from Haran, they and all belonging to them, for they greatly rejoiced on hearing that a son had been born to Sarah. 7 And they came to Abraham, and they ate and drank at the feast which Abraham made upon the day of Isaac's being weaned. 8 And Terah and Nahor rejoiced with Abraham, and they remained with him many days in the land of the Philistines. {This shows Abraham was still in Gerar, the land of the Philistines, when Isaac was weaned (a couple years later); and that Abraham's father, Terah, was still living in Haran but had come to Gerar to celebrate Isaac's weaning. This is likely (guessing) about two years after Isaac's birth although there is no year given. If two years later then Terah would be about 172, Abraham about 102.}

JASHER  21:9-10 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/21.htm
9 At that time Serug the son of Reu died, in the first year of the birth of Isaac son of Abraham. 10 And all the days of Serug were two hundred and thirty-nine years, and he died. {I'm just putting this here for reference that Serug died during the 1st year of Isaac's life. Terah would have been approximately 171, and Abraham approximately 101.}

JASHER 21:13-15 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/21.htm
Terah        Abraham
175           105

13 And when Isaac was five years old he was sitting with Ishmael at the door of the tent. 14 And Ishmael came to Isaac and seated himself opposite to him, and he took the bow and drew it and put the arrow in it, and intended to slay Isaac. 15 And Sarah saw the act which Ishmael desired to do to her son Isaac, and it grieved her exceedingly on account of her son, and she sent for Abraham, and said to him, Cast out this bondwoman and her son, for her son shall not be heir with my son, for thus did he seek to do unto him this day. {Well, now we have the bigger picture of what Ishmael intended to do to Isaac. Isaac is now five years old, and they've been in the land of the Philistines for five years, so Ishmael would then be 19 (14+5), Abraham would then be 105 (100+5), and Terah would then be 175 (170+5).}

JASHER 22:4 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/22.htm
Terah        Abraham
196           126

4 And the days increased and reached twenty six years, and after that Abraham with his servants and all belonging to him went from the land of the Philistines and removed to a great distance, and they came near to Hebron, and they remained there, and the servants of Abraham dug wells of water, and Abraham and all belonging to him dwelt by the water, and the servants of Abimelech king of the Philistines heard the report that Abraham's servants had dug wells of water in the borders of the land. {This is their 26th year in the land of the Philistines, and they leave that land and head back to Hebron in Canaan. We've already accounted for the first five years in the section above, that leaves us with 21 years to add to those ages: Terah is now 196; Abraham is now 126.}

JASHER 22:14-15 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/22.htm
15 And Abraham and his children and all belonging to him dwelt in Beersheba, and he pitched his tent as far as Hebron. 15 And Abraham's brother Nahor and his father and all belonging to them dwelt in Haran, for they did not come with Abraham to the land of Canaan.

Terah        Abraham
205           ???
        Abraham's age not given, see next section: he was 135 (135+70=205)
"And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran." {Genesis 11:32 KJV}

JASHER 22:31-34 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/22.htm
Terah        Abraham
205           135

31 And Terah, father of Nahor and Abraham, went and took another wife in his old age, and her name was Pelilah, and she conceived and bare him a son and he called his name Zoba. 32 And Terah lived twenty-five years after he begat Zoba. 33 And Terah died in that year, that is in the thirty-fifth year of the birth of Isaac son of Abraham. 34 And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years, and he was buried in Haran. {This reveals a few things: Terah died at age 205, when Isaac was 35; therefore, Abraham would have been 135 when Terah died. Since Terah lived 25 years after his last son, Zoba, was born to him in his old age, Terah would have been 180, and (by deductive reasoning) Abraham would have been 110 when Zoba was born to his father, Terah.}

Terah        Abraham

40 And Isaac the son of Abraham was growing up in those days, and Abraham his father taught him the way of the Lord to know the Lord, and the Lord was with him. 41 And when Isaac was thirty-seven years old, Ishmael his brother was going about with him in the tent. 42 And Ishmael boasted of himself to Isaac, saying, I was thirteen years old when the Lord spoke to my father to circumcise us, and I did according to the word of the Lord which he spoke to my father, and I gave my soul unto the Lord, and I did not transgress his word which he commanded my father. 43 And Isaac answered Ishmael, saying, Why dost thou boast to me about this, about a little bit of thy flesh which thou didst take from thy body, concerning which the Lord commanded thee? 44 As the Lord liveth, the God of my father Abraham, if the Lord should say unto my father, Take now thy son Isaac and bring him up an offering before me, I would not refrain but I would joyfully accede to it. 45 And the Lord heard the word that Isaac spoke to Ishmael, and it seemed good in the sight of the Lord, and he thought to try Abraham in this matter. {Fascinating tidbit, I did not know that! Isaac was 37 here so that would make Abraham 137, two years after Terah's death.}

JASHER 22:46-55 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/22.htm
55 And the day arrived when the sons of God came and placed themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came with the sons of God before the Lord. 47 And the Lord said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? and Satan answered the Lord and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. 48 And the Lord said to Satan, What is thy word to me concerning all the children of the earth? and Satan answered the Lord and said, I have seen all the children of the earth who serve thee and remember thee when they require anything from thee. 49 And when thou givest them the thing which they require from thee, they sit at their ease, and forsake thee and they remember thee no more. 50 Hast thou seen Abraham the son of Terah, who at first had no children, and he served thee and erected altars to thee wherever he came, and he brought up offerings upon them, and he proclaimed thy name continually to all the children of the earth. 51 And now that his son Isaac is born to him, he has forsaken thee, he has made a great feast for all the inhabitants of the land, and the Lord he has forgotten. 52 For amidst all that he has done he brought thee no offering; neither burnt offering nor peace offering, neither ox, lamb nor goat of all that he killed on the day that his son was weaned. 53 Even from the time of his son's birth till now, being thirty-seven years, he built no altar before thee, nor brought any offering to thee, for he saw that thou didst give what he requested before thee, and he therefore forsook thee. 54 And the Lord said to Satan, Hast thou thus considered my servant Abraham? for there is none like him upon earth, a perfect and an upright man before me, one that feareth God and avoideth evil; as I live, were I to say unto him, Bring up Isaac thy son before me, he would not withhold him from me, much more if I told him to bring up a burnt offering before me from his flock or herds. 55 And Satan answered the Lord and said, Speak then now unto Abraham as thou hast said, and thou wilt see whether he will not this day transgress and cast aside thy words. {Who KNEW!? More fascinating stuff, sounds like the story of Job. Abraham is still 137, Isaac is still 37.}

JASHER 23:87-90 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/23.htm
87 And when Abraham had finished his service he returned with his son Isaac to his young men, and they rose up and went together to Beersheba, and they came home. 88 And Abraham sought for Sarah, and could not find her, and he made inquiries concerning her, and they said unto him, She went as far as Hebron to seek you both where you had gone, for thus was she informed. 89 And Abraham and Isaac went to her to Hebron, and when they found that she was dead they lifted up their voices and wept bitterly over her; and Isaac fell upon his mother's face and wept over her, and he said, O my mother, my mother, how hast thou left me, and where hast thou gone? O how, how hast thou left me! 90 And Abraham and Isaac wept greatly and all their servants wept with them on account of Sarah, and they mourned over her a great and heavy mourning. {This was after Abraham sacrificed the Ram in place of Isaac. BTW, the Ram represents Jesus -in place of- Isaac, it does NOT represent Isaac. Abraham is still 137, Isaac is still 37; Sarah, being 10 years younger than Abraham would have died at the age of 127.}

JASHER 24:1 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/24.htm
1 And the life of Sarah was one hundred and twenty-seven years, and Sarah died; and Abraham rose up from before his dead to seek a burial place to bury his wife Sarah; and he went and spoke to the children of Heth, the inhabitants of the land, saying, ... {You can read the rest on your own.}

JASHER 24:10-16 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/24.htm
10 That the cave and the field Abraham bought from Ephron the Hittite, and from his seed, and from those that go out of his city, and from their seed for ever, are to be a purchase to Abraham and to his seed and to those that go forth from his loins, for a possession of a burial place for ever; and he put a signet to it and testified it with witnesses. 11 And the field and the cave that was in it and all that place were made sure unto Abraham and unto his seed after him, from the children of Heth; behold it is before Mamre in Hebron, which is in the land of Canaan. 12 And after this Abraham buried his wife Sarah there, and that place and all its boundary became to Abraham and unto his seed for a possession of a burial place. 13 And Abraham buried Sarah with pomp as observed at the interment of kings, and she was buried in very fine and beautiful garments. 14 And at her bier was Shem, his sons Eber and Abimelech, together with Anar, Ashcol and Mamre, and all the grandees of the land followed her bier. 15 And the days of Sarah were one hundred and twenty-seven years and she died, and Abraham made a great and heavy mourning, and he performed the rites of mourning for seven days. 16 And all the inhabitants of the land comforted Abraham and Isaac his son on account of Sarah.

---              139

22 And Lot the son of Haran also died in those days, in the thirty-ninth year of the life of Isaac, and all the days that Lot lived were one hundred and forty years and he died. {This is a bit out of place from the section below. Isaac is 39 at this time so Abraham would have been 139 (thus this passage is moved up a section.)}

JASHER 24:17-18 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/24.htm
Terah        Abraham
---              140

18 And when the days of their mourning passed by Abraham sent away his son Isaac, and he went to the house of Shem and Eber, to learn the ways of the Lord and his instructions, and Abraham remained there three years. 18 At that time Abraham rose up with all his servants, and they went and returned homeward to Beersheba, and Abraham and all his servants remained in Beersheba. {Abraham stayed in the land that Sarah died in for three years and then returned home to Beersheba (in Canaan). Abraham was 137 when Sarah died, adding 3 years makes him now 140.}

JASHER 24:27 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/24.htm
27 And Nahor the son of Terah, brother to Abraham, died in those days in the fortieth year of the life of Isaac, and all the days of Nahor were one hundred and seventy-two years and he died and was buried in Haran. {This is, as the passage says, Nahor, Abraham's brother, who died when Isaac was in his 40th year, that would make Abraham 140 still.}

JASHER 24:40, 44-45 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/24.htm
40 And the young woman was of very comely appearance, she was a virgin, and Rebecca was ten years old in those days. ... 44 And Isaac took Rebecca and she became his wife, and he brought her into the tent. 45 And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebecca, the daughter of his uncle Bethuel, for a wife. {According to this, Rebecca was only 10 years old when she became Isaac's wife, Isaac being 40 years old; Abraham would have been 140 still. Although marrying young girls was common then, even so, I put this here as it may require further research.}

28 And Rebecca the daughter of Bethuel, the wife of Abraham's son Isaac, was barren in those days, she had no offspring; and Isaac dwelt with his father in the land of Canaan; and the Lord was with Isaac; and Arpachshad the son of Shem the son of Noah died in those days, in the forty-eighth year of the life of Isaac, and all the days that Arpachshad lived were four hundred and thirty-eight years, and he died. {So, now we're eight years later: Isaac is 48, so Abraham is 148. Rebecca would now be 18, being called barren.}

JASHER 26:1 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/26.htm

1 And in the fifty-ninth year of the life of Isaac the son of Abraham, Rebecca his wife was still barren in those days. {It's 11 years later: Isaac is now 59, so Abraham would be 159; Rebecca would be 29.}

JASHER 26:16 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/26.htm
Terah        Abraham
---              160

16 And Isaac, the son of Abraham, was sixty years old when he begat them. {Now Isaac was 60 when Jacob & Esau (twins) are born to him by Rebecca; Abraham would now be 160 years old; Rebecca would now be 30 years old.}

Terah        Abraham    Abraham dies at age 175

JASHER 26:29 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/26.htm
Terah        Abraham
---              175

29 And it was at that time that Abraham died, in the fifteenth year of the life of Jacob and Esau, the sons of Isaac, and all the days of Abraham were one hundred and seventy-five years, and he died and was gathered to his people in good old age, old and satisfied with days, and Isaac and Ishmael his sons buried him. {Abraham dies at the age of 175 when Isaac is 75 years old, and Jacob & Esau are both 15 years old. This is verified by the fact that Isaac was 60 when his twin boys were born, so: 60+15= 75 for Isaac's age at his father, Abraham's, death.}

THE END ;o}

*** NOTE: The use of the book of Jasher, IMHO, is validated by the following KJV scriptures:

"And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. [Is] not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day." {Joshua 10:13 KJV}

JASHER 88:63-65 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/88.htm
63 And when they were smiting, the day was declining toward evening, and Joshua said in the sight of all the people, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon, and thou moon in the valley of Ajalon, until the nation shall have revenged itself upon its enemies. 64 And the Lord hearkened to the voice of Joshua, and the sun stood still in the midst of the heavens, and it stood still six and thirty moments, and the moon also stood still and hastened not to go down a whole day. 65 And there was no day like that, before it or after it, that the Lord hearkened to the voice of a man, for the Lord fought for Israel.

"(Also he bade them teach the children of Judah [the use of] the bow: behold, [it is] written in the book of Jasher.)" {2 Samuel 1:18 KJV}

JASHER 56:8-9 http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/56.htm
8 And Jacob said unto Judah, I know my son that thou art a mighty man for thy brethren; reign over them, and thy sons shall reign over their sons forever. 9 Only teach thy sons the bow and all the weapons of war, in order that they may fight the battles of their brother who will rule over his enemies.
