Welcome to The Lamb's Wife blog!

"Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready." -Rev 19:7 KJV ... "And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife." -Rev 21:9 KJV

10/29/20 ~ Halloween - Remembering Noah's Flood

Source: Google Images

Halloween makes total sense to me now, and that revelation (for me) being just this year! I believe this (now pagan) *holiday* stems from the worldwide flood and the resulting deaths of everyone except Noah and his seven family members. Originally every culture on earth (after the disbursement at the tower of Babel) would be remembering that very tragic day. Some offering sacrifices just as Noah did when he disembarked from the ark a year after the flood began on what was then known as the 17th day of the second month {Genesis 7:11 KJV}.

"And Noah builded an altar unto the LORD; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar." {Genesis 8:20 KJV}

As we read in the linked document to follow, Halloween originally commemorated the flood but was later twisted (as the devil is so often apt to do) into pagan rituals. For the record, I disagree with Bishop Ussher's calculations, his reckoning of the years from creation being higher than mine by 22 years https://answersingenesis.org/holidays/halloween-history-and-the-bible/

I don't celebrate Halloween in the modern sense, and neither should you, but it's very likely that this annual anniversary of the flood should not be ignored by Christians as Jesus Himself warned that in the days of His return the world would be as it was in the days of Noah (and Lot) being filled with evil continually, and subsequently a great snatching away (rapture) will occur!

"But as the days of Noe [were], so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two [women shall be] grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh." -Jesus {Matthew 24:37-44 KJV}

"And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed [them] all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed. In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back. Remember Lot's wife. Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it. I tell you, in that night there shall be two [men] in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left. Two [women] shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two [men] shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body [is], thither will the eagles be gathered together." -Jesus {Luke 17:26-37 KJV}

NOTES:
* Sacrifices were not instituted by Noah after the flood, we see an instance before the flood, all the way back to Cain & Abel offering to the Lord in Genesis 4.
* In the above scriptures the words [women] and [men] do not exist in the original Greek, they were inserted by the translators but are not necessary for understanding what is being conveyed.
* Besides the original story in Genesis, and Jesus' confirming it as well, many other scriptures speak of Noah's flood, you can read more from my BLB search here https://www.blueletterbible.org/search/search.cfm?Criteria=Noah%2A&t=KJV#s=s_primary_0_1
* In the next link, the pseudepigraphal book of Jubilees, chapter 6, gives us more insight on the days following the flood when Noah and his family left the ark. Read verses 17-24, I think that this is our *missing day* in our 365.2425 days of a year, that being a day unto itself, separate from the other 364 days of the year; that day, being the 17th day of the 2nd month, which is now flipped to the 17th day of the 7th month (7/17 or 717) based on when God decreed a new year begins for Israel (that being the spring, not the fall, see Genesis 7:11, Exodus 12) is THE *special* day of commemorating the flood. The quarter day difference may be an effect of the flood and a possible pole shift. This may also be why we in the Greco-Roman world call this month OCTOber (meaning tenth or the tenth month) when in fact it's the Hebraic seventh month http://www.pseudepigrapha.com/jubilees/6.htm

IF the book of Jubilees, and all I've written above are correct, then we should remember this day, but not in the paganized way it's observed with ghosts, gobblins, witches, et al, or throughout history, rather we should be reflecting on the day of the flood and keep our -eyes up- watching for our great God & Savior, Jesus (the) Christ (Messiah, aka: Mashiach, Moshiach)!

Halloween this year, and every year for that matter, is on Oct 31st on our Gregorian calendar. Will He appear in the air for his beloved? We don't know for sure but it is yet another annual High Watch Day for many of us that are patiently waiting and watching for Him ;o}

Oh, and if you made it this far ... consider these scriptures!

Are you in the ark???

"And they went in unto Noah into the ark, two and two of all flesh, wherein [is] the breath of life. And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the LORD shut him in." {Genesis 7:15-16 KJV}

"And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut." -Jesus {Matthew 25:10 KJV}

The hand of mercy, Jesus, has been extended to you, will you take hold before it's too late?

Are your lamps full of oil, and your wicks trimmed and lit?
Have you got an extra flask of oil to go the distance?
Are you among the wise virgins, or the foolish virgins? {Matthew 25:1-13 KJV}

Maranatha to the King, our Bridegroom. Keep looking up church/bride!
