Welcome to The Lamb's Wife blog!

"Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready." -Rev 19:7 KJV ... "And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife." -Rev 21:9 KJV

02/20/16 ~ To swear or not to swear ...

An article was posted today on facebook, along with the fb post itself:

"This is a CONTROVERSIAL question: Is it OK for Christians to curse? Why or why not?"
http://www.christianheadlines.com/blog/christian-hip-hop-artist-andy-mineo-sparks-controversy-with-question-of-whether-it-s-ok-for-christians-to-curse.html

Here's my response to that article ...

NO! How does the world know the difference between them (the unsaved) and a Christian (saved) unless we walk like Jesus walked? He never cursed!
This shouldn't even be a topic among believers (except as correction to those that do it), it's a NO BRAINER!

For the life of me, I cannot see WHY this is even a topic of discussion among Christians, yet it is all the rage these past few weeks. The article above tells why it's a "controversial" question. Cussing/cursing/swearing is something many professing Christians do, such be people like presidential candidates, singers & entertainers, athletes, and your normal everyday person that says they *love* God & Jesus. Ask yourselves, what would Jesus do?

An example of cursing/swearing would be: to use Jesus' or God's name in vain, as a cuss word or an expression of disgust; another instance would be to say things like -God d**n- for which you are actually telling God to damn you or others and that is, in fact, an oath that is coming out of your own lips for which you pronounce damnation against yourself or others; and yet another would be to make an oath or pledge for which you expect to honor, whether you do or not you are accountable to God for such.

The scriptures are likewise CLEAR, think about what comes out of your mouth ...

.:: CURSING / SWEARING / TAKING THE LORD's NAME IN VAIN ::.

Exo 20:7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. {one of the 10 commandments}

Lev 19:12 And ye shall not swear by my name falsely, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the LORD.

Deu 5:11 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain: for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

Psa 34:13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.

Psa 52:4 Thou lovest all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue.

Pro 21:23 Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.

Rom 12:14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.

.:: CURSING / SWEARING / OATHS ::.

Lev 5:4 Or if a soul swear, pronouncing with his lips to do evil, or to do good, whatsoever it be that a man shall pronounce with an oath, and it be hid from him; when he knoweth of it, then he shall be guilty in one of these.

Num 30:2 If a man vow a vow unto the LORD, or swear an oath to bind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his word, he shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth.

Pro 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Mat 5:33-37 Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:  But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:  Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.  Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.  But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil. -Jesus

Jas 1:26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.

Jas 3:5-6 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!  And the tongue [is] a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

Jas 3:8-10 But the tongue can no man tame; [it is] an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.  Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.  Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

Jas 3:13-15 Who [is] a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.  But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.  This wisdom descendeth not from above, but [is] earthly, sensual, devilish.

Jas 3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, [and] easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

Jas 5:12 But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.

1Pe 3:9-12 Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.  For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:  Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.  For the eyes of the Lord [are] over the righteous, and his ears [are open] unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord [is] against them that do evil.

2Ti 2:16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

People that think they're "just being *real*" are fooled. Would you be swearing your head off if Jesus were standing right in front of you? I think not.
We're all guilty of letting profanity slip between our lips but we're also responsible to the Lord to repent each time. If you are prone to swearing/cursing/cussing as part of your *normal* vocabulary ... REPENT! Turn away from that sin. Jesus is ever near and He will not hold us guiltless. Be a good example of what He's done for you.

Consider these words of the Lord ...

Luk 6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. -Jesus

What's in YOUR heart???
